Once upon a time one guy asked about rules in posting on one's personal blogs. "What kind of writing passes for a blog article," he asked specifically. He asked again, "Should we write in the first person or second or third?" I looked at him, smiling, and thought, "You can even write in the 1001th person if you like."
That's Slog Bhop principle.
With personal blogs, write 'em and just post 'em. Never mind if the blog article does not satisfy certain requirements or go according to some rules. Personal blogs
are designed for a bit more freedom so you can write articles as relaxed as you can and as freely as you can be yourself. A personal blog is about life. Life is freedom. Some formal websites would probably prefer formal blogs, too, but
that's their choice. As I've said, you express your personal preference with
blogs. If you want formal articles on your own blog, write 'em and just post 'em. I think this is
among helpful web and blog tips Slog Bhop can share here.
I write the way I speak in my personal blogs. You'd
find me in different tones, temperaments, or moods, sometimes serious
sometimes funny, and sometimes somewhere in between. Some folks are wary about
grammar and choice of words. That's good, and it's always good habit to aim for
well written articles. But if you miss to edit or don't know how but you want
your articles published now on your blog, just post 'em. Go ahead. You won't
die if the whole world sees your wrong spelling or grammar.
Anyway, we have a Blog Shop at Slog Bhop to help you with grammar.
Just don't post anything pornographic or
something of a personal attack or hate campaign. Blogs are not for that. Post
things that will challenge and inspire your readers to re-consider things as they read and enjoy your writeups which you yourself enjoyed composing. No reason why you can't enjoy what's supposed to be a hobby than a job or business. Yes, blogs can be for money making ventures online, but first and foremost it should feel like a hobby to you. How you compose those things is entirely up to you. It's your blog.
Just post 'em.
Blogging and posting on Face Book are
somewhat similar. The difference is, your FB posts are lots shorter. But then,
FB gives you the option to write a "blog" using your what's-on-you-mind text box, which comes with your account. You can
write anything there, anyway you want, grammar and spelling errors and all. Use Taglish if you want to or your regional dialect. I sometimes play around with borrowed photos, providing my own captions describing them. I call it picture poem, because I try to make it sound like a poem. That's blogging too, in a way.
We're not encouraging wrong grammar or
spelling here. We're encouraging folks to start creating their own blogs and
write. When they have brought themselves to doing that, then they can worry
about spelling and grammar later. It will help a lot if you research well about your topic and in the process read a lot, too. Soon, your wrecked grammar is going to improve unbelievably. I've seen it happen to a lot of people, including me. To be more confident about your writing and grammar, just keep writing and researching.
For business blogs, you can likewise be
casual at one time, and formal at another. But make sure you always make sense,
formal or otherwise, so people would buy. When you talk sense, even if you look
or sound very casual (even funny), your product becomes more interesting, and this is something to be well considered especially by newbies. Even if your blog is not a selling blog, it pays to make sure your blog articles are going to "sell" for you (or keep a satisfied readership loyal to you). It's among
vital web and blog tips from Blog Shop. If it makes sense it sells.
You are the Blog
I love saying you are the blog. Nobody can
tell you how you should dress (except perhaps your mother or wife) or carry yourself. Your
personal preference is your own business. So what if they don't approve of my
pink shoes and gold colored pants and purple curly hair? That's the way I like it. On
other days I may feel like being decent and formal, so I'd choose serious attires. That's me. And that's how my blog will also be. I'm my blog. In the
same way that I can wear my shoes and clothes any way I want, I can dress up my
blog thus.
That's why I love blogging. I can just
write away and post, with minimal editing. It's like a diary where you talk to
yourself and share the soliloquy to your readers around the world, and even
earn from it if you monetize your blog. You can shout, cry, LOL, giggle, and
make faces (like grimacing). It's your blog: just post 'em!
